I’m a Whale

I’m majestic in size and one of the biggest creatures of the sea.

I swim in the deepest parts of the ocean.

I’m a sea mammal and my survival depends on the preservation of our seas and oceans.

We’re studied by scientists and filmed by divers with sophisticated underwater equipment and cameras working together to learn about our environment and our behaviors and how we interact with others.

Since we live in the farthest depths of the ocean it’s hard to study us so the ones brave enough to venture out on boat to find us and learn our ways and understand how we interact do so through tagging and monitoring us in our natural habitat.

Since we are the largest species of sea and ocean life and a mystery to so many since we can only be seen in our natural environment many tourists come out to see us and our dolphin friends on ship and boat and they literally come to watch us in a safe way.

Whale watching is a billion dollar industry and it’s very popular as tours are conducted all around the world attracting millions annually just to see us swimming the ocean blue and it helps to contribute to the conservation and protection of our oceans which is vital to our survival.

Whales and dolphins are solitary but also socially active due to their highly developed intelligence yet they are becoming more and more closed off.

Whales travel in groups together known as pods when they search for food. They’re known to eat small fish.

They’re very protective of their young and instinctively surround them keeping them close at all times shielding them from the dangers of ocean life.

Humans are well intentioned but some pose a threat to whales in their natural habitat though there are many who are concerned for their preservation in the scientific community and are working to help protect them along with the dolphins and all ocean and sea life.

Whales are very emotional creatures as evidenced when they moan, cry and call out. If they’re feeling lonely or in danger or searching for a mate they will express their feelings in the depths of the ocean to the depths of their soul.

They communicate through sound and are such beautiful wonders that amaze children all over the world.

The blue whale is the largest of all animals measuring almost 100 feet in length and weighing 180 tons.

Children can see these beautiful creatures in whale sightings on ships as it’s best to see them in their natural habitat along with the dolphins that venture out with them.
