I’m a Panther
I’m a cat that roams in the wild.

My habitat is in the grasslands, forests, swamps, marshes, savannas, deserts and mountains.

I can be found in North America, South America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

I am compared to the leopard, jaguar, cougar and puma.

I’m the panther.

I’m usually brown in color with green eyes.

I’m also a dark black and sometimes white.

As a black panther in the wild I stand out with my green eyes.

I make for a very big black cat.



Panthers are not social. They live solitary lives and only get together when mating.



Panther cubs live with their mother panthers until they’re ready to meet the challenges of the wild on their own at around 18 months.



Their mothers protect them and hunt for food for them as well as for themselves.



Baby panther cubs are born without sight in their first two weeks so they are completely helpless and must depend on their sense of smell to recognize their mother.



Eventually they do develop a keen sense of sight.



Male panthers are the patriarch of their families and very aggressive and territorial and will fight for their families survival, safety and shelter in the wild.



They are hunters and very fast traveling at speeds of up to 70 miles an hour in spurts and will stalk and attack their prey usually in the night as they are nocturnal.



Panthers love the water and can swim when it gets too hot provided they’re near a stream, marsh or river.



They exist on land and in the water and are able to move down stream to seek refuge.



Panthers live 12 to 15 years in the wild and up to 23 years in captivity at zoos around the world.



It’s hard to distinguish big cats from one another as there are so many kinds and types but the panther does have distinctive looks that can help those who study them in telling them apart from other big cats.



The panther is a wonderful cat to see and if you’re able to get to a zoo you should find the time to see them as they live.



It’s an incredible and memorable experience and bring your children too so they can learn to appreciate these magnificent cats.



I don’t tend to seek the company of others in the wild. I march to the beat of a different drum as I prefer to live alone in the wild. The only time I seek someone is when I mate.
