I’m a Guinea pig

I’m a very cute animal and need lots of love and affection.

I love living with other guinea pigs and being taken care of by my owner.

I need to have a big cage so I can run around and do my daily exercise. I also like company so if you bring me home to live with you I also need a playmate so you should bring two of us home with a big cage to house both of us.

I also need a room that I can play and eat in with my guinea pig friend and human friends that has protective mats and where we can run freely and safely in with a litter box in the corner.

I love playing with chew toys that are safe and I also enjoy exploring toy tunnels that I can run in.

Rolling wheels aren’t safe for me. They’re ok for mice, rats, gerbils and hamsters but I’m too big for such a toy and I can injure myself.

I also like a hammock and a bed to sleep in.

Guinea pigs eat timothy hay, grass, pellets, vegetables and fruits and need vitamin c in their diet. They have sensitive digestive systems and need water daily too.

Guinea pigs were domesticated in 5000 BC so it’s very rare to find any in the wild.

Most guinea pigs are household pets and some are laboratory test animals like mice and rats.

Guinea pigs are wonderful household pets and children can hold them in their hands cradling them and playing with them.

Since guinea pigs are gentle and delicate animals they need to be handled with loving care and they will love you back.

Guinea pigs come in different colors and have different personalities and are lots of fun and they serve as good therapy pets.

They are active in the day and sleep at night so they make the perfect pet.

Zoos have areas designed for rodents housing mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs in separate quarters so children can see all of us and can learn that we make a good addition for home life.

You can obtain guinea pigs at pet sanctuaries, animal rescue organizations and shelters, from breeders and at pet shops so let your parents know you wish for a family pet and put guinea pigs on your wishlist.

A fun movie for kids to watch that feature guinea pigs and other rodents is G-Force. It’s a Walt Disney movie and was a hit at the box office.

As a guinea pig we are thought of as test animals but we’re better as pets and we are lots of fun for kids of all ages.

I love when I’m held and given a place to play and feeling part of a family.
