I’m a Sea turtle
I live at sea

I swim in the ocean

I can dive to great depths

I can walk on sandy beaches

I must always return to the water

I’m most happy at the water’s edge

I ride the waves

I find my food source in the ocean

I am a very shy animal

I live a solitary life

The only time I seek company is when I search for a mate.



Baby sea turtles are hatchlings that are born on land and eventually find their way to the ocean.



They never reunite with their mother after they hatch.



They’re on their own from the very start and must learn to get to the ocean and find their way seeking food and shelter.



Only a very tiny percentage of hatchlings survive land birth and navigation to the sea.



If they’re lucky enough to survive their journey to the ocean then the next phase of life begins for them.



Their life at oceans edge is promising as they can live to age 10.



The overall life expectancy of a sea turtle is dependent on their species.



A healthy adult sea turtle can live to 60 years and some have lived to 80 years and the oldest recorded sea turtle lived to 150 years.



Sea turtles swim effortlessly in the water with their flippers. It’s natural to them as they can swim at a pace of 6 miles per hour leisurely and faster if they’re escaping danger from a predator as they can swim at up to 20 miles per hour.



Sea turtles migrate to warmer waters in the winter months and can navigate thousands of miles on their winter journeys in groups for safety and to encourage each other.



There are 7 species of sea turtles worldwide and they habitat in tropical and sub tropical waters.



The smallest sea turtle is the Kemp’s Ridley growing to a length of 2 feet and a weight of 100 pounds.



The leatherback sea turtle is the largest growing to a length of 6 feet and a weight as much as 2,000 pounds, a ton.



There are places in the world that offer opportunities for visitors to swim with sea turtles at safe distances.



In Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, on the Galápagos Islands in Ecuador and on the beaches of Akumal in Mexico people visit sea turtles in their habitat.



It’s not often you get such an opportunity.



You can also view sea turtles at aquariums and learn about them in museums, libraries and wildlife conservation sites.



Like all sea life, sea turtles are threatened by climate change and global warming and are listed as endangered.



They must be protected in their habitat if we wish to live with these beautiful creatures of the sea.



Mankind owes it to the sea turtle and all living creatures to protect them and their habitat otherwise we stand to disturb nature’s ecosystem on land and at sea losing these amazing animals.



Sea turtles have existed on earth for 100 million years but they are facing dire challenges due to the changing earth’s climate and man’s negligence in addressing climate change and global warming.



If we don’t get our act together animals existence on earth is threatened as is our own.



Going to space is not the answer.



Protecting the earth and the animals is our priority.



Sea turtles lives are dependent on our handling of the earth and I feel sorry for them because they are innocent like all the animals dependent on a healthy ecosystem, a healthy environment, a healthy ocean, a healthy earth and a healthy planet.



I swim the mighty oceans and find my way to land briefly before I swim back.



I want to live in clean waters.



I deserve that.
