I’m a Chicken

I’m one of the cutest animals you’ll ever meet as a baby chick.

I’m also very brave.

You’ll find me on the farm with the calf, sheep, cow, pig and goat among others.

We’re all wonderful animals and we all get along with each other.

Chickens like other birds are very protective of their baby chicks and nourish, teach, and assist them until they’re ready to find their own way in the wild or on a backyard farm.

Baby chicks raised on factory farms are separated from their mothers after hatching and sadly placed in cages as future layers of eggs or for poultry.

Chickens have a short lifespan on a poultry farm of about 7 weeks from hatching.

Chickens raised on backyard farms have longer life expectancies of 5 to 10 years if their caregivers provide them a nurturing environment with loving care and veterinary support.

Chickens are unique and sing as you can hear them on all backyard farms throughout the world.

They sing as a form of communication and because they’re very social animals.

Every child loves to see chickens up close with their baby chicks in safe surroundings.

It’s truly remarkable seeing a chicken with her baby chicks together as they waddle behind.

The mother hen will protect her chicks shielding them from harm and help in regulating their body temperature.

Chickens can fly young but as they grow and become heavier it becomes more difficult because their wings can’t support their increased weight.

Baby chicks make ideal pets but to raise them you must keep them protected outdoors or indoors free of other animals and they need a cage adequate in size that will allow them to freely explore their new surroundings and as they grow the cage would need to be replaced to accommodate their growth.

They also need to be in ideal temperatures so if they’re housed outside it has to be in an enclosed barn like structure and caged so they’re protected.

They also need to be monitored regularly for their nutritional needs and physical safety and they also need to be visited by the local veterinarian.

You also need to feed them well and give them enough water every day.

Children love chickens portrayed in film and book such as Chicken Little, who claimed the sky was falling after he was hit by something panicking everyone in his town.

Another movie children love is Chicken Run which is based on chickens living on a farm who plan their big escape.

Foghorn Leghorn is a rooster and one of the popular Looney Tunes characters in addition to Bugs Bunny.

Pokémon is another favorite of children and they have Torchic, the baby chick.

Children love chickens and baby chicks and they celebrate Easter with marshmallow baby chicks and their most favorite is Peeps.

They also love chocolate baby chicks.

Easter allows us to celebrate these adorable animals and children love to draw them for their decorations and buy them at party stores as their home decorations.

Children also love the classic Old MacDonald had a farm and on his farm he had a baby chick along with a cow, a turkey, a pig, a horse, a donkey and a duck.

Children can learn a lot from a baby chick and enjoy watching it grow.

It will be one of their most memorable and rewarding experiences.
