I’m a Pig
Everyone thinks I’m sloppy and dirty on the farm.

You’d be surprised to know that I’m actually a very clean animal.

You probably are wondering if I’m a clean animal why do I roll around in the mud.

The simple reason is on hot days I have trouble with my body temperature and I can get overheated or burn in the sun.

On the farm to cool off we roll around in the mud which helps us deal with the heat.

We also need activities that help us during the day and playing in the mud allows us some fun with our friends and we can stay cool.

Farmers see that we have adequate mud pits as part of our care and water sprinklers to help us on hot summer days for dealing with the heat and in helping us get clean.

They feed us corn, nuts, fruits, berries grains, vegetables, dairy and some meats.

Pigs also need a plentiful supply of water.

Pigs also need to be visited by the veterinarian to make sure they’re in good health and managing well in the heat.

Pigs are very social and enjoy the company of other pigs and animals that are friendly.

They also like the farmers and the staff hands who take care of them.

There are around 16 species of pigs throughout the world.

Pigs are adorable especially when they’re first born to their mothers as piglets.

They’re small and need proper attention, care and nourishment that only sows can offer to their babies.

Pigs are raised in all different types of environments or are on their own in the wild.

Pigs mostly are raised on farms and can live for up to 20 years.

In the wild they usually live between 4 to 10 years.

Pigs solely raised as livestock or for breeding purposes will be separated from their mothers within a month after birth and placed in cages where their life expectancy is much shorter.

Pigs are beautiful animals and can be raised as pets and can experience a full life if taken care of.

They like to do their own things so they aren’t always so agreeable as dogs are but are very social and are very affectionate to their owners.

Children adore pigs and love to visit them on the farm watching them at play.

Children love reading books and watching movies about pigs too.

A movie most every child has seen is Winnie the Pooh and they fall in love with his friend Piglet.

Piglet has also been the star in movies such as Piglet’s Big Movie which connects with children of all ages and other movies connecting all the other characters including Pooh, Tigger, Roo, Kanga, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl and Christopher Robbin.

Charlotte’s Web is another children’s favorite that centers around a pig and his spider friend and their unique relationship.

Other movies children love about pigs are Babe and the follow up Babe: Pig in the city.

Peppa Pig is a popular British cartoon about a pig and her family living in England and her life experiences.

We all know about the Three Little Pigs and the big bad wolf.

When you learn a little more about the pig you will realize that they are truly special animals and are a joy for children all around the world.

I love to be visited by children on the farm.

If you protect me on the farm and treat me well I will be one of your loyal and trustworthy friends because I’m a pig.
