I’m a Dolphin

The sea I claim my home.

I love life in the ocean and sea where I have my freedom and I can swim and jump to my heart’s desire.

At sea I hang with other dolphins in groups and we assist, protect and interact with one another. We also hunt together for food as a team.

There are safety in numbers.

Dolphins swim together for their very survival and because they’re social animals.

Dolphins are considered mammals yet they live their lives in water.

Dolphins like the sea and stage and love to perform for children of all ages.

Dolphins enjoy performing for the millions of visitors each year in shows featuring them at theme parks and at aquariums and aquatic centers all around the world.

If you’re lucky enough to sit in the front row you’ll see me up close and feel my splash on a hot summer day and if you like it I’ll splash you again with my fin.

I’m very intelligent and gentle and love when children come to visit me during and after my shows.

Dolphins are very family oriented and nurse their young always protecting and teaching them the ways of their environment and providing them the knowledge they need when it’s their time to venture out into the wilds of the ocean.

Dolphins are beautiful in their natural habitat and people love to see them swimming and jumping as they view them in the distance from their ships sailing the seas.

Dolphins range in size and eat a healthy diet of fish and larger dolphins can eat up to 50 pounds a day.

Many dolphins swim in the warmer waters but some live in colder waters depending on their location and species.

Dolphins breathe through their blowhole which is positioned at the top of their head.

They’re graceful, sleek and fast in the ocean reaching speeds as fast as 20 mph.

Dolphins have a lifespan of between 25 to 35 years and are known to grieve when they’ve encountered loss.

Dolphins are one of the friendliest and most social creatures of the sea and they’re known to be close to humans in establishing relationships especially with their caregivers and those who study them in their natural habitats.

There is nothing more spectacular than seeing a dolphin in midair or in a group swimming in the ocean.
