Paroles de la chanson The Old Treasure Chest par David McCord lyrics officiel

The Old Treasure Chest est une chanson en Anglais

It sat undiscovered as hist’ry grew old
Through ages forgotten and stories untold
A fairy-tale legend - or could it be true?
Well, just listen, and I’ll share the story with you…

It’s a wonderful, magical, mystical box
With bright shiny hinges and bright shiny locks
Well manufactured - it must be the best.
(That mag)nificent, marvelous, old treasure chest.

In some forgotten time, on some forgotten day
In a secretive place, it was hidden away
Way back in the shadows with boxes and bags
And stacks of old books… newspapers and rags

One day, long ago, all the bricks, one by one,
That kept out the wind and the rain and the sun,
For so many years were all taken away,
And into that dark… came the bold light of day

Some worker then paused in the settling dust
He didn’t know why, but have it he must.
He came back after hours and took it away
No one can recall who that man was today

Well, the chest got around - it was bought, it was sold -
Sometimes it came cheap, sometimes precious as gold.
And somehow an old man had got it for free
When he passed away, it was passed down to me.

And not that you really care… But here’s what I’ve got in there:

I’ve got arrowheads, acorns, and apples I’ve got buckles and bones and balloons
I’ve got crackers and clams and some crayons I’ve got diaries, dice, and doubloons

I’ve got elephant ears and electrum I’ve got feathers and filberts and fur
I’ve got goobers, golashes, and grizzle I’ve got hashbrowns for him and for her

I’ve got inkpots and imps and iguanas I’ve got jumping beans, jellies, and jars
I’ve got kinkajous, kids, and koalas I’ve got lilacs and lilies and lars (who’s lars?)

I’ve got millions of mice wearing mittens I’ve got nothing, nobody, nowhere
I’ve got oranges, ocra, and objects I’ve got pickle juice, prunes, and a pear

I’ve got quarters, quirks, and some quasars I’ve got rice and riddles that rhyme
I’ve got snakes and sandstones and sweaters I’ve got tackle and typhoons and time

I’ve got usless umbrellas and urchins There’s Vivaldis, Vermeers, and VanDams
I’ve got widgets and wimples and wombats I’ve got yodlers and Yankees and yams

I’ve got zillions of zouaves with zithers But nothing that starts with an “X”
It may not be much of a treasure, But it’s way more than most folks expects!
