Dear Jesus are you up there?
I’m not doing very well
Feels like my whole ship is sinking
And I’m afraid I’ll nail you up myself

Shouldn’t we be salt and light by now?
Was our trust in you misplaced?
Shouldn’t all this pain be gone by now?
Isn’t that why You killed Him in the first place?

And oftentimes I wonder
Just how much of this pain
Is caused by the very people
Who hide behind your name

Dear Jesus are you listening?
Or were you ever there at all?
‘Cause all my friends who said they loved you
Your church has bloodied up them all

Dear Jesus can you help me?
It’s been keeping me awake
Will you still love your children
Even when we lose our faith?

Dear Jesus if I’m honest
I think I’ll always run away
This grace just feels so heavy
Because I deserve your fate
