Apologize as soon as you are aware of the harm you’ve caused.
Respect any boundary the person you’ve harmed sets. Do not harm them again with your presence.
If the recipient of harm consents to your presence, do not harm them more with your distance.
Offer to make amends. Respect their right to decline. Respect their right to define what an amend is.
Understand the difference between consequences and punishment. You should accept consequences. You should not accept punishment. Harm is not a remedy for harm.
Identify your own wounds. Heal them. This is solely your responsibility.
Demonstrate your understanding of your harm through your deeds. Love is as love does, not as love says.
Forgive yourself. This is the only forgiveness you are entitled to.
