At seventeen, I was an athlete
Never had to be the better man I had to be
A catastrophe was among half these teens
Cause the draft was attached and after me
So I packed my bags and brought my things
Kissed my mother and my father then I saw them cringe
You could hear the fear that trembled in their chins
Saw my peers and my next of kin
Kept holding on to them close
