There's never been a war caused by kindness
There's never been wound suffered by acceptance and compromise
There's never been a life taken by the use of an open mind
But it seems like understanding is hard to find

I read about a man who suffered for what he believed in
He dreamed about a day that'd bring equality to human kind
Somebody shot the man down, for the thoughts in his mind

What happened to understanding
What about the dream of love
