Well, I'm in the doghouse again
And I think I need to explain why
My wife said she had some things
That she wanted me to do

Like cutting the grass
And trimming the hedges
Then raking the leaves up too
I swear I had plans

For my Saturday to go that way
Honeydews or fishing
I chose fishing
So I gathered up my fishing gear

And hitched a truck up to my old boat
Then called up my old fishing buddy
To see if he wanted to go
When we got down to the river

We caught fish like the disciples did
I ain't gonna talk about the one that got away
But that fish was big
I expected her to give me a kiss

After seeing that string of fish
But I swear she didn't say nothing
This woman was pissed

Y'all, I like hunting
And hunting season was around the bend
So I picked up the phone and called up

My old hunting friend
Now the honeydews hadn't been done
But I still cleaned up my gun
The grass was knee high in the back

I think she was mad about that
She said something about painting the house

When we got down to the woods

I swear this trip was good
We killed a lot of rabbits and squirrels
All the time I'm thinking about my girl
I just wanted to make her proud

And have her impressed with me
I expected her to treat me sweet
After seeing that cooler of meat
But I swear she didn't say nothing

She was pissed at me

I asked her what was for dinner
She said it with a hiss
She said you can eat those rabbits and squirrels

And you can eat that fish
She said you haven't raked the leaves up
And haven't even painted the house
And until those things are done
