I’ve destroyed a love all by myself
And I know many others have too
So I wondered about anything that might help
Anything that’s always better to do

The first step I took was honest reflection
What caused the flames that burned the love
And after a lot of introspection
I know for me just what it was

I think I found the common denominator
To what brings most any love down
The thing that creates all the hurt
To the point that a remedy can’t be found
I believe I know how love is destroyed
And what makes almost any love unwell
The thing lovers need to always avoid
Are the lies we can’t un-tell

I believe it all starts there and then
When someone chooses to cross that line
Because it’s awful hard to go back again
To when there was mutual trust inside

Those lies may seem small and harmless
But I can say from experience
That we’re all just really deluding ourselves
And burning down important bridges

Any false narrative of place and time
It’s dangerous to be untruthful
Because we can’t un-tell any of those lies
