I’ve made strides I needed to make
And arrived at places I’ve never known
But I needed to get past the heartache
Of all reluctance I’d previously shown

I wasn’t blessed with proactive thinking
My nature is a bit shy and reserved
And it took time for me to start realizing
That it was up to me to develop the nerve

I’d heard so much about a right attitude
And it took a while to see that it’s true
Everyone has times they’re insecure
But the key is to push on through
So much about life is confidence
And I have dreams I want to fulfill
And I know deep down without a doubt
That I should, I can, and I will

Those words have become my mantra
My own personal belief system
A commitment to effort and follow up
To make achievement my main mission

It builds on itself like a rising tide
Little by little and day by day
Creating a stronger backbone inside
And skills to help me find my way
