It had begun to take hold
The shadows grew longer and colder
Somehow I felt so much older back then

I'd drift in and out of a dream
Losing the line in between them
Waking to find I'd have no idea where I was

Fragments of memories, allies and enemies
Trying to catch my breath, summon the energy to
Keep climbing on, it has get easier at some point

I made this mistake on my own terms
At least I can say that I tried
You externalised my inner demons
I think it's time

It all came together at once
I opened my eyes to a stranger
I couldn't hold on
Something was calling my name

Suddenly off the edge I go, backward overhead
The rain begins turn and fall upwards instead
Gravity start to tear trees out of the ground
Below I see the sunset and realise I'm found

We lost no time on this journey together
No harm was done though our pilgrimage has ended
Finally there were no choices left to be made
We will surely see this as we age

At least we can say that we tried

The pain and the guilt will subside
