She showed up at the back gate on a cold December night
Hungry and tired, hint of wild left in her eyes
Storm was rolling through, worst we'd seen in years
Said, don't know what you're running from but you're more than welcome here

Her mane was matted, no shoes on her feet
Opened up the barn, pulled some hay down so she could eat
Called up to daddy to help get her settled in
He just shook his head, said “Well, I guess you got yourself a horse then”

Her coat was white as snow, she stood bout ten feet high

But she shined up like tinsel and she took a shine to me
