The Earth is full of sorrow
She groans more than she sings
She waits in trepidation
For what tomorrow brings

For she's learned to fear the creatures
That she labors to sustain
Her children once respected her
But now they show disdain

Her mountains surely tremble
Her forests burn and bleed
Her rivers rise till overflowing
Her oceans cannot breathe

She longs for liberation
From this bondage to decay
The joy of new creation
When the old has passed away...

How did it ever come to this
Such utter disregard
For fragile life, in perfect balance
Nature's beating heart

What kind of madness must there be
To bite the hand that feeds
To ravage, plunder, till all is gone
And earth is on her knees
