Cracked out beyond all reason
I ran sulfuric like an egg
The time we died I could smell summer rain in our wake
Running at some point no longer existing with anything
Substantial and beginning to exist merely I can't remember
When it happened but I lost that ball point pen I borrowed

The city's teeth to nubbins
And I was helpless but to drift through the sunrise my fat
Belly twirled in a godless orbit an egg flow cooking down the driveway
In red faced embarrassment
That I ever let you whisper 'I love you' into an abject silence
Smells jutting out at right angles apricot and rose your hair
And still I can't get away the smell of you that was left after that late
Morning breakfast where I discovered two eggs over easy
And undercooked circling protozoal
And wondering all the while if a single celled organism might not have spoke up also
Sending letters to microbiological journals for advice regarding bacterial abandonment issues
Not yet cracked out beyond all reason but for some reason hiding myself and only crying
Later when they served breakfast at rehab
Where this black guy's silver tooth twinkled like a familiar face
