Last night, 2 AM, woke up with a hunger pang
I don't understand how others make the cravings go away
I just wish my motivation wasn't such a wreck
I'm too stressed (what the heck?), I'm sick of living check to check
I'm discouraged; I can't focus; sometimes I can barely stand
I set fire to the things I love so I can warm my hands
But the cold will find a way; My position is precarious

December is a warning label; January isn't nice
Seasonal catastrophe, my soul matches the ice
White mouth; self-doubt handed on a silver plate
Wicked winds and shards of ice that wash across the state
A cycle of rely-and-try so we feel vindicated
But it's music and it's hope that make us truly liberated
We hate to be down-and-out but we love to be out of town
I hate it when I'm alone but I panic when they're around

The downside of up and I'm feeling so stuck but I'm writing and that's how I cope

I'm over the winter; I wish I could chill
Am I nihilistic? Am I even real?
Bring me the end; How I wish I could feel
I get through the toils And try through the trials
And I can blame that on the art
I'd like to be positive just for a while; that's why I create with my heart
So I'll open up my ears in case positivity calls me
Pass me the Dark Sugar, I need it for my coffee.
