Chained to the wall, we live our days.
Echoes of life in a muted hue,
Believing the false, not knowing the true.

Out of the cave, into the light,
Leave behind the endless night.
See the world with open eyes,

Figures flicker on the cold stone wall,
Phantoms of a life so small.
One dares to break the chains that bind,
Steps into the light, leaves fear behind.

Blinded first by the brilliant rays,
Seeing the world in a new array.
Returns to speak of the sights he's seen,
Of colors bright and fields of green.
