Akela and Nihera and the stories that they tell
And when I got my uniform my woggle and my scarf
I learnt to tie a reef knot and Baloo could make me laugh

Then I was going up
And I soon became a Scout
And I began to learn just what the world was all about
I learnt the Scout law quickly and we camped out on the ridge
I learnt to cook and track and hike and how to build a bridge

Then I became a soldier and it call came back to me
The camps, the compass and first aid and the spirit of BP
I slept beneath the heavens though it was a time of strife
I still remembered fondly the young days of my life
