Peace at the Waterhole is a song in English
Here's a Christmas story that really must be told
It happened down in Africa
At a waterhole
It was a balmy Christmas Eve
Animals gathered round
They came to have their very last drink
Before the sun went down
There were some hyenas
And wild dogs with their pups
Cheetahs and some lions
And a leopard with her cubs
There were hippo, rhino, buffalo, wildebees and zebra
Buck, pigs and ellies and giraffe
All around were piglets, chicks and cubs
And lambs and foals and calves
Peace, peace on Christmas Eve
Peace at the waterhole
All the birds were nesting and they were laying eggs
And those eggs were hatching
And nests were full of chicks
Christmas is for children
So the song is sung
In Africa that's true 'cos that's when animals have their young
A neighbour in a tree was looking down a forest track
He saw a man all dressed in red with a sack upon his back
He had a big white beard and he had a friendly face
But right in the middle of Africa, he looked out of place

It was Santa on his way to a village in the wilderness
With lots of goodies in his sack to bring much happiness
He stopped right there in his tracks and suddenly he cried
What do you all want for Christmas, and here's what they replied
The cubs and pups said we wanna growl
And roar like dad and mom
Calves, foals and lambs and piglets said
Long legs so we can run
The nestlings said we wanna fly and we wanna sing
We all wanna be just wild and free more than anything
Vrede, vrede, volkome vrede

Heard Santa say, I'm on my way
Your wish is my command
I'll spread the word for all my worth
That you will not be harmed
The Lord made every one of you
And I want you to know
He commanded man to care for you
The Bible tells us so
At Christmas time we celebrate
The coming of the Lord
I came here to remind the world about His Holy Word
This is a time of peace and love
And joy and harmony
And you will get your wish
That you'll be wild and free
Peace, peace on Christmas Eve
Peace at the waterhole
