I was watching you from the bed Pretending to be asleep I know that you've been crying Your eyes still red along with the flush of your cheeks
Your hair was pulled back in that way I like
The way you do just before you wash it.
You wouldn't look my way
But I could hear your soft breaths as you moved
Stifling a sniffle or two.
I know sometimes you think I don't care about youcnd sometimes you just take all that you can take and you break down
I watched you put on that big t-shirt you wear for bed and slip your bra off underneath...Cause if you leave it on you won't be able to sleep
I watched you take off your pants One leg got stuck on your foot that you couldn't get off
in your utter misplaced frustration you fell to your knees nearly sobbing
Looking like you were about to burstI watched you inhale a big gulp and hold it
Then exhale shaking your head
I could almost hear you saying snap out of it!
You relaxed just a little and got up to put your clothes in the hamper and turn off the lights
I could feel how tense you were when you finally crawled into bed
Hugging that pillow cnd sighing
You weren't even close to me...
I know you think somehow you don't deserve mecnd that you don't need to concern me with your personal traumas
That if you lay it all on me I'll leave
So I rolled overcnd put my hands around your waist cnd I pulled you into mecnd I held youI wanted you to feel my loveI felt you relaxFor a brief second Before the sobs ensuedSometimes the sadness overtakes youI know that now
Even as you cried and I didn't know why I just laid there and held on to you
cs your hand gripped mine while you rode the horror story of depression like a bad dreamYou didn't want to burden me with it
But I am here to help you carry it You try to be so strong out there in life but when you come home you're so frail
You come home to me so that I can rebuild the broken pieces When finally the shakes die down and you are almost asleep. I always think I can't ever let someone else do this for you
