Feeling the absence
I poor it out and ruin a couple pages' white
I poor it to the tune of the expanding night
Of being back home

And how will she answer?
It's eating me to think of how it might eat her
Feeling she can't call unless I call her first
And when will I?

So, please, if you'd let me
Run my mind about the kinds of birds I saw
Pick apart my friends-I focus on their flaws
In place of mine

And how do I send it?
When, I don't, it feels it's maybe been too long
Scrap it then and save it for a sappy song
As if it's found home
