All covered with ashes and soot
The three legged hound dog wanders in the thick fog
Being careful of his missing foot
A child on the playground who runs and then falls Down coating with sand his Baby Ruth
The sound of a new sun like a game that has been
Won explodes with such passion and truth
An angry gas pumper with blood on his bumper
Hangs a trophy of a hound dogs paw
The river of refuse that no longer has use
It flows without conscience or law
The ice on the candle the choir boy handles
As if it will leave him a scar
The smell of the beer mug the drunk holds like a hug
That he wears like a coat of tar
