On a southbound 747 headed back from Nashville
Coming home to put a good friend in the ground
My tray table up, my seat laid back
Trying to count a few sheep, before this plane touches down
And then this fellow beside me starts asking about life
I looked at him and laughed, said you got the wrong guy
And I'll tell you why

Well I got off that first plane in Chicago
I thought I'd be in Illinois all night
But I finally heard my number, and I ran toward that gate
Turns out, they overbooked that flight
And then this fellow in front of me starts cussing out loud

Well they let that man on that airplane
He got the last first class seat
While I got left in Chicago
