I had a dream that wasn't a dream at all
The splendid sun had gone out, and the stars
They wandered dark through eternal space,
Without lightning or script, and the frozen earth
It spun blindly and blackly in the moonless air

The morning came and went, but brought no day
Men forgot passions, in horror and dismay
Praying selfishly for a glimpse of light
Living around the fire, in the darkest night


Thrones and palaces, huts and humble homes
All consumed by flames, as the darkness roams
Cities devoured, men gathered near the fire
To see each other's faces, to quell their dire
