A miserable taste that simmers inside its bowl, it’s a broth that leaves you lost for words.
It is a dish that sadly all of us drink whether we know it or we haven’t got the faintest idea.
Throw in a pinch of loathing or laziness, stir it round until it’s all combined.
And now I find that I’ve been all but blind to everything bubbling round
Dang’rous colours swirling without a sound.

Breath it all in, the scent of a lonely life floating up into the open air.
And in the silverware: a person just like me, but someone that is sorrier than I’ve ever seen.
“You’re not good enough,” the reflection seems to say, and I feel as if I might agree.
I shut off all that’s not what I need.

Bad ideas, all those fears, I swallow tears like a habitual chore
All this and more that I used to adore.
They’re pitiful mem’ries swimming down to my core.
“What a taste, how absurd!” They crush my dreams without saying a word.
Yet now, as I’m grateful for the meal that has been served to me.
I just want to return to who I used to be.

Shaking in my fingers, sweaty stains that linger, tenderness and agony, and all of this regret.
Trying to forget, but not succeeding yet. The longer I dwell, it seems the more that I fail.
Pour in my emotions, going through the motions, simmering and sinister and filled until the brim.
Until at last every drop is swallowed up. YEAH

All alone, a serving size too large for one, and yet too small it seems for some.
So give up, give in or believe that there’s a SOUP-erpower waiting within?
Still I’m all alone, and told that I should stay that way: I know I just can’t take the pain.
I wouldn’t choose a life so blue, or risk it all and start anew and miss just one more day with you.

So I’m grateful for the meal that I’ve been s erved today.
Just once, I think I’d like to taste it all again.
To bring up to the heat a heart that’s frozen by a sigh.
And give this soup another try. AAAAAAAAAAH
