We came to watch the sunset settle on the ocean
To end the first day of forever on this beach
Once the the sun began to sink we turned we did not blink
We were hoping for a site that’s seldom seen

We heard all the old folk say that they had seen it
You’ll never know just when the atmosphere agrees
When that last one ray of light disappears from site
There’s a beam a burst a flash of emerald green

It’s that space between the things that make the noises
It’s in the knowing what the other one’s not said
It’s when words are out of reach it’s when standing on a beach

All the old folks smile and nod as they remember
The very first time their hearts stood upon this shore
They too came to see heard the same thing we
