It was just the other day
When the old man passed away
That I carried his belongings from the store

At first it raised a laugh

I marveled at the memories it made

A soldier of the King
A fresh-faced lad too young to go to war

But next to it was laid
One of my passing out parade
I'll always wonder what he did that for

Lying in the sun
Getting sunburnt on a beach down by Roway

I really had to smile
At the bathing costume styles
I guess it was the fashion of the day

Then snaps of some big fishing trip
Down at Charara Bay
The tiger and the fat Kariba green

And a funny one of me
At a boy scout jamboree
And a group shot of our high school rugby team

And I wondered who the gal was
So pretty in her white Victorian dress

She must have been a fan
Or was it my great-gran?
I’ll never know but I can only guess

One taken on the Vic Falls bridge
As it was being built
With that final girder dangling from a crane

It was dated 1905
But there's no one left alive
The bridge lives on and always will remain
