He had a pup with one ear up and a little stumpy tail
A throwback from old Jess' litter
That they used to call the rat
With the heart of a lion and an eagle eye
And quick as a jungle cat

Throughout the bushveld Jock was known
His masters pride and joy
He gained respect both far and wide
From every Zulu boy
The finest hunter in the land
Could never match his skill
For he could track down any beast
Just at his master’s will

The stock he tried to save
An accidental bullet
Sadly laid him in his grave
