Earthworms aren't actually slimy They're actually covered with lots of tiny, tiny hairs called
setae
And each of their little body segments uses them to help burrow underground
Without them, the worm would have much, much more trouble

Worms actually breathe through their skin and they need to be nice and wet to survive
So when it's raining, they'll think it's just fine to come out
But when the sun comes back up, all the water evaporates quickly
And when they're somewhere dry, then all of the light, they won't be able to move
So they just curl up
And
They die
I understand if you're freaked out by worms
They look weird and they're slimy to the touch
And even I was freaked out by them a bit when I was little
They step on it
Why in the world would you do that
