Psyche scours earth for a feather
Raging Aphrodite – mere mortal is with child –
Grinds rival beauty into the dirt

To find flown love, Psyche must pass the tests divine
Sort mountain of seeds from grain by dawn
Gather golden wool from murderous sheep
Fill pail from on high where black Styx plunges into hell

All these trials Psyche completes
With help from insect, plant and bird
Now, Aphrodite relent,
Send Psyche to her lover, heaven-sent ...
